Abstrak: Sejarah merupakan suatu peristiwa penting yang pernah dialami oleh setiap manusia dalam cakupan perorangan, organisasi, ataupun negara yang telah berlalu. Sejarah pemasyarakatan dalam penulisan ini bersangkut-paut dengan suatu lembaga yaitu pemasyarakatan itu sendiri, dan tidak melepaskan kesangkut-pautannya dengan suatu bangsa atau negara. Tidak banyak orang yang mengetahui asal mula terciptanya pemasyarakatan. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini membahas bagaimana sejarah dan perkembangan konsep kepenjaraan hingga menjadi pemasyarakatan yang merubah paradigma penjeraan menjadi pembinaan. Tujuan dari penelitian sebagai pembelajaran dan penambahan wawasan mengenai sejarah pemasyarakatan serta merubah pandangan negatif masyarakat mengenai pemasyarakatan. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode sejarah. Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan adalah pengetahuan mengenai sejarah dan konsep pemasyarakatan yang bermula dari kepenjaraan sehingga berdampak pada pengetahuan kesejarahan pemasyarakatan bagi masyarakat Indonesia yang disejajarkan secara proporsional dalam ruang pendidikan sejarah.
Abstract: A history is an important event that has been experienced by every human being in the scope of an individual, organization, or country that has passed. The correctional History of the writing is related to an institution that is the correctional itself and does not release its link with a nation or state. There are not many people who know the origins of correctional origin. The problem in this study discusses how the history and development of the concept of Lookehood to the correctional change of the Penjeraan paradigm into coaching. The purpose of research as learning and adding insight into the correctional history and changing the negative views of the community on correctional. Methods of research using historical methods. The results of the research are knowledge about the history and the concept of correctional that originated from the looting so that it affects the historical knowledge of the correctional Society for the Indonesian people who are proportionally aligned in the historical education room.References
