KAJIAN POSKOLONIALISME ROBERT J.C. YOUNG DAN RELEVANSINYA DALAM PENULISAN BUKU SNI JILID 4-6

Abstrak: Robert J.C. Young merupakan tokoh ahli poskolonialisme yang aktif dalam memperjuangkan kemerdekaan negara-negara yang terjajah, baik secara fisik, materi, maupun identitas/budaya, semangat itulah yang kemudian menginspirasi banyak kalangan yang satu frekuensi dengan Young untuk menolak adanya kolonialisme dan imperialisme, serta menggalang gerakan kemerdekaan di seluruh dunia, selain itu karya-karya yang pernah ditulis Young turut andil dalam merumuskan ide/gagasan pokok mengenai poskolonialisme, yang mendorong lahirnya tulisan-tulisan baru yang dapat menumbuhkan semangat nasionalisme bagi bangsa terjajah, atau baru saja meraih kemerdekaan. Penelitian ini mencoba menemukan relevansi antara kajian poskolonialisme Robert J.C. Young dengan penulisan buku Sejarah Nasional Indonesia (SNI) jilid 4-6, yang begitu fenomenal dalam perkembangan historiografi di Indonesia, mengingat kemunculannya yang tak lama setelah bangsa Indonesia mendeklarasikan kemerdekaannya. Dengan menggunakan kajian unit analisis dan pendekatan sejarah, penelitian ini menguraikan setidaknya ada empat ide pokok poskolonialisme yang digagas Young berkaitan dengan studi sejarah, di antaranya ambivalensi, hibriditas, orientalisme, dan subaltern. Meski demikian, pertanyaan lain kembali muncul, yakni apakah penulisan buku SNI jilid 4-6 telah menerapkan ide poskolonialisme sebagaimana mestinya, atau malah dimanfaatkan oleh sebagian pihak untuk kepentingan tertentu, yang justru bisa menimbulkan konflik internal bangsa Indonesia.
Abstract: Robert J.C. Young is an expert on postcolonialism who is active in fighting for the independence of the colonized countries, both physically, materially, and identity/culturally. This spirit has inspired many people who share the same frequency as Young to decline colonialism and imperialism and mobilize independence movements worldwide. In addition, the works that have been written by Young also contributed to formulating the main ideas regarding postcolonialism, which encouraged the birth of new writings that could foster the spirit of nationalism for the colonized or newly independent nations. This study aimed to find out the relevance between the postcolonial studies by Robert J.C. Young and the writing of Sejarah Nasional Indonesia (SNI) book volume 4-6, which was phenomenal in developing historiography in Indonesia. This was due to its emergence shortly after the Indonesian nation declared its independence. By using a unit analysis study and a historical approach, this study described at least four main ideas of postcolonialism initiated by Young in relation to historical studies, including ambivalence, hybridity, orientalism, and subaltern. However, another question that arose again was whether the writing of SNI book volume 4-6 has implemented the idea of postcolonialism properly or has been used by some parties for certain interests, which can actually lead to internal conflicts in the Indonesian nation.
