Abstract: Oil palm empty fruit bunches are currently plantation waste, the amount of which continues to increase along with the increase in oil palm production. Processing of waste oil palm empty fruit bunches through pyrolysis techniques can produce liquid smoke (liquid smoke) which can be used as a vegetable pesticide and the resulting solid becomes biochar (biochar) which can be used as an addition to organic matter for agricultural soil. The purpose of this community service activity is to train partners in making vegetable pesticides from waste of oil palm empty fruit bunches using the pyrolysis method. There are about 10 PKM partners in this activity and are farmers who are members of Muhammadiyah and Aisiyah Perbaungan Branch, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra Province. The method used in this activity begins with socializing to farmers about the benefits of using botanical pesticides and then training farmers to make vegetable pesticides using the pyrolysis method. The results achieved in this activity are increasing knowledge and understanding of farmers about the benefits of botanical pesticides by around 70%, and 30% of farmers understanding the pyrolysis method.
