BERKEBUN SEBAGAI TERAPI MENURUNKAN STRES LANJUT USIA

Abstrak: Masalah psikologis adalah masalah yang paling sering dialami lanjut usia. Menjadi tua akan mengalami banyak kemunduran secara fisik, biologis, mental, social, dan spiritual. Kasus lansia mengalami sakit atau menderita penyakit, mengalami stress, cemas dan depresi adalah beberapa masalah yang dialami lansia. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan, mengajak, dan merangsang lansia melakukan aktifitas berkebun sebagai bentuk terapi komplementer yang bermanfaat untuk mengatasi masalah-masalah yang dirasakan dan dialami lansia selama tinggal di Balai Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werda. Metode pengabdian menggunakan pendekatan aktifitas kelompok bersama, yaitu berkebun (field group activity with gardening). Mitra pengabdian adalah Wisma Jolotundo Balai Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werda Sleman Yogyakarta. Jumlah lansia yang terlibat sebanyak 17 orang. Alat evaluasi untuk mengukur tingkat stress menggunakan angket Stress Scale, 14 item dengan menggunakan skala Likert 4 tingkat. Hasil aktifitas berkebun bersama mitra menunjukkan penurunan tingkat stress. Lansia yang mengalami stress berat menurun 8%, stress sedang dan stress berat menurun 5%. Tim pengabdi merekomendasikan berkebun sebagai agenda tetap di Balai, menjadikan varitas tanaman dijadikan warung hidup, perlunya diversifikasi tanaman untuk memperkaya kebun yang dikelola.

Abstract: Psychological problems are the most common problems experienced by the elderly. Growing old suffers many physically, biologically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Cases of the elderly experiencing illness or suffering from illness, experiencing stress, anxiety and depression are some of the problems experienced by the elderly. The purpose of this community service is to introduce, invite, and stimulate the elderly to do gardening activities as a form of complementary therapy that will be useful to overcome the problems felt and experienced by the elderly while living at the Balai Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werda. The service method uses a group activity approach, namely gardening. The partner is Wisma Jolotundo Balai Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werda Sleman Yogyakarta. Evaluation tool to measure stress levels using the Stress Scale questionnaire, 14 items using the 4-Likert scale. The results of gardening activities showed a decrease in stress levels. Seniors who experienced severe stress decreased by 8%, moderate and severe stress decreased by 5%. The team recommends gardening as a fixed agenda in the Balai, making plant varieties into living stalls, the need for plant diversification to enrich the managed gardens.
