PENGUATAN PEMANFAATAN MEDIA AUDIO VISUAL AIDS DALAM PEMEROLEHAN KOSA KATA BAHASA INGGRIS BAGI SISWA SISWI PENDIDIKAN VOKASI

Abstrak: Media Audio Visual Aids (AVA) merupakan bagian integral dari proses belajar mengajar dalam bentuk yang inovatif, kreatif, interaktif, dan menyenangkan. Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat kali ini adalah penguatan pemanfaatan media AVA untuk meningkatkan pemerolehan kosa kata (vocabulary acquisition) melalui beberapa tahapan di SMKN 1 Bulakamba Kabupaten Brebes. Melalui tiga tahapan berbentuk pelatihan berbantuan media AVA menggunaan PPt dengan materi 12 (duabelas) kosa kata Bahasa Inggris, 35 orang siswa kelas XI jurusan Audio Video mengikuti 2 sesi latihan dan diakhiri dengan sesi evaluasi pemerolehan kosa kata (vocabulary). Penilaian dilakukan berdasarkan tiga aspek yaitu tepat kosa kata benda (nouns) tepat ejaan (spelling) dan tepat pelafalan (Pronunciation). Hasil yang diperoleh diketahui bahwa pemerolehan kosa kata pada awal sesi adalah 47%, dan terjadi peningkatan signifikan menjadi 86%. Para siswa pun merasa senang dan sangat merasakan manfaat media AVA dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris selama kegiatan.
Abstract: Audio Visual Aids (AVA) media is an important part of teaching and learning in a creative and fun way. The goal of this Community Service activity is to help students at SMKN 1 Bulakamba, Brebes Regency, improve their vocabulary using AVA media. To give training sessions to 35 of class XI students of Audio Video Study Program, Power Point slides and audio-visual tools were utilized in the teaching of 12 new words. Students were tested for vocabulary acquisition, particularly correct nouns, accurate spellings and pronunciations in a three-meetings treatment. The research revealed that 47% of the vocabulary was acquired by participants prior to the treatments. Following the training, there was a significant increase or improvement of 86%. Using AVA media during the activity was found to be very effective in helping the students learn English.
