Abstract

Abstract: The delay of the first responder to provide first aid in the pre-hospital phase for emergency victims can worsen the victim's condition. Prompt and appropriate help for victims with emergency conditions will prevent victims from death or permanent disability. Health volunteers play an important role, especially as first responders, so that the ability to carry out basic life support must be possessed by health cadres and the wider community. Currently, there is only 1 person out of a total of 20 health volunteers in Juata Permai Village who has attended Basic Life Support (BLS) training. The purpose of this activity is to increase BHD knowledge and skills and to respond to emergencies in health volunteers. This activity was attended by 20 health volunteers. This activity includes 2 stages, including the delivery of the theory/concept of BLS and emergency response using the lecture method, question and answer, and the practice. After participating in this activity, participants' knowledge and skills related to BLS and emergency response increased 60%. This is evidenced by the increase in post-test scores and also that each participant can practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills and airway clearance for choking victims, both adult victims, children and infants.
