PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN PENULISAN KARYA ILMIAH MAHASISWA MELALUI PENGENALAN APLIKASI PUBLISH OR PERISH

Abstrak: Penulisan ilmiah sering kali dianggap suatu hal yang sulit oleh mahasiswa. Salah satu kesulitan yang sering dialami mahasiswa yaitu menemukan penelitian terdahulu (literature review). Tujuan pengabdian ini untuk menyosialisasikan pemanfaatan aplikasi Publish or Perish di Jurusan Pendidikan Fisika UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Metode dalam pelatihan ini berupa tindakan langsung dengan dilakukannya lokakarya (workshop) selama tiga jam pertemuan. Dalam pelatihan ini diikuti oleh mahasiswa Fisika semester tujuh sebanyak 41 orang. Tahap awal pelatihan, pembina melakukan diskusi terkait sulit atau mudah dalam menemukan literature review. Semua mahasiswa menyebutkan bahwa mereka kesulitan dalam menemukan literature review. Hal tersebut dikarenakan akses terbatas di perpustakaan selama pandemi. Berdasarkan pelatihan yang diberikan oleh pembina didapatkan hasil bahwa mahasiswa yang mengikuti pelatihan 92,7% mampu menggunakan aplikasi Publish or Perish untuk menemukan literature review. Kemudian, menurut peserta 90,2% mengatakan aplikasi ini baik digunakan dalam penulisan ilmiah. Selain itu, dari peserta yang hadir pun sudah mampu mengelola metadata di Publish or Perish untuk dipindahkan ke aplikasi Mendeley.
Abstract: Scientific writing is often considered a difficult thing by students. One of the difficulties that students often experience is finding previous research (literature review). The purpose of this service is to socialize the use of the Publish or Perish application in the Department of Physics Education, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The method in this training is in the form of direct action by conducting aworkshopthree-hourIn this training, 41 students participated in the seventh semester of Physics. In the early stages of training, the coach conducts discussions regarding the difficulty or ease of finding a literature review. All students mentioned that they had difficulty in finding literature reviews. This is due to limited access to libraries during the pandemic. Based on the training provided by the supervisor, it was found that 92.7% of students who attended the training were able to use the Publish or Perish application to find literature reviews. Then, according to participants 90.2% said this application is good for use in scientific writing. In addition, the participants who attended were able to manage metadata in Publish or Perish to be transferred to the Mendeley application.
