THE ROLE OF EDUCATIONAL MEDIA IN PREVENTING HOAX NEWS OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC AMONG STUDENTS MATARAM CITY

Abstrak: Perkembangan teknologi informasi yang sangat pesat selain memberikan kontribusi bagi peningkatan kesejahteraan dan kemajuan peradaban manusia juga menjadi arena efektif perbuatan melawan hukum. Seperti halnya berita hoax yang tersebar melalui media terutama media sosial di kalangan masyarakat termasuk mahasiswa. Hoax tentang pandemi Covid-19 belakangan menjadi pemberitaan hangat, beragam isu mencuat di tengah-tengah mahasiswa pada saat pembatasan sosial skala besar hingga membuat beragam sikap dan tindakan muncul sebagai respon. Mahasiswa di Kota Mataram merupakan bagian dari elemen masyarakat yang termakan pemberitaan hoax tentang pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis peran media edukasi dalam mencegah berita hoax pandemi Covid-19 di kalangan mahasiswa Kota Mataram. Penelitian ini menggunakan mixed method dengan desain concurrent triangulation. Subjek dan informan penelitian utama adalah mahasiswa yang berdomisili di Kota Mataram. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, angket, dan observasi. Keabsahan data dilakukan melalui perpanjangan keikutsertaan, ketekunan, dan triangulasi. Guna mengukur data digunakan juga validitas dan reliabilitas. Analisis data menggunakan analisis campuran bersamaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa facebook merupakan indikator yang memiliki kategori yang paling tinggi dalam mengedukasi kesadaran pencegahan berita hoax pandemi covid-19 dikalangan mahasiswa dengan tingkat persentasi 30,70 %. Sedangkan whatsapp berada pada kategori sedang yakni 61,80%. Untuk media convensional (cetak dan online) Lombok Post, Suara NTB, dan Radar Lombok dengan total skor berada diantara 160-165 dengan tingkat persentasi 70,30%-68,10% dengan rata-rata berkategori tinggi.
Abstract:Â The rapid development of information technology in addition to contributing to the improvement of welfare and progress of human civilization is also an effective arena for unlawful acts. As well as hoax news spread through the media, especially social media among the community including students. Hoaxes about the Covid-19 pandemic later became hot news, various issues emerged among students at a time of large-scale social restrictions to make various attitudes and actions appear in the response. Students in Mataram City are part of the community element that is consumed by hoax news about the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to find out and analyze the role of educational media in preventing hoax news of the Covid-19 pandemic among students of Mataram City. This research uses a mixed-method with concurrent triangulation design. The main research subjects and informants are students of Mataram City. Data collection using interviews, scales, and observations. The validity of the data is done through the extension of participation, perseverance, and triangulation. To measure the data is also used validity and reliability. Data analysis using mixed analysis together. The results showed that Facebook is an indicator that has the highest category in educating awareness of hoax news prevention pandemic covid-19 among students with a percentage rate of 30.70 %. While WhatsApp is in the medium category of 61.80%. For conventional media (print and online) Lombok Post, Suara NTB, and Radar Lombok with a total score of between 160-165 with a percentage rate of 70.30%-68.10% with a high category average.References
