Status Iodium Balita di Daerah dengan Riwayat Endemik Gangguan Akibat Kekurangan Iodium (GAKI)

Kekurangan dan kelebihan iodium memiliki dampak yang serius bagi kesehatan balita. Namun, pemeriksaan status iodium pada balita masih terbatas di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis status iodium pada balita di daerah dengan riwayat gangguan akibat kekurangan iodium (GAKI). Penelitian ini berdesain cross-sectional yang melibatkan 95 balita usia 21-59 bulan di Kabupaten Kediri dan Blitar. Karakteristik balita seperti usia, jenis kelamin, dan konsumsi susu formula dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan kuesioner. Ketersediaan garam beriodium didapatkan dengan mengumpulkan garam dapur yang digunakan dan menetesi dengan larutan tes iodium. Status gizi balita diperoleh dengan mengukur tinggi badan balita dan membandingkan dengan nilai standar. Status iodium didapatkan dengan mengumpulkan urin balita dan menganalisis kadar iodium urin di Laboratorium GAKI, Magelang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa median ekskresi iodium urin pada balita sebesar 196 µg/l. Terdapat 20% balita defisiensi iodium dan 20% balita kelebihan iodium. Defisiensi iodium belum menjadi masalah kesehatan pada balita Namun, pemeriksaan status iodium secara rutin pada balita perlu dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi adanya kekurangan dan kelebihan iodium.References
