PELATIHAN TOEIC DALAM MENINGKATKAN KOMPETENSI DAN PROFESIONALITAS BERBAHASA INGGRIS GURU

Abstrak: Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kecakapan komunikasi berbahasa Inggris para pendidik melalui pelatihan tes berbahasa Inggris TOEIC sebagai upaya pengembangan kompetensi dan profesionalitas guru. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan berupa penyampaian materi, diskusi dan simulasi tes TOEIC meliputi kemampuan menyimak dan membaca. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 20 guru SMA Harapan 3, Deli Serdang. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan kompetensi guru terhadap tes TOEIC. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari angket dan nilai tes TOEIC guru setelah diajarkan dan dilatih dalam kegiatan. Hasil angket menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan guru terhadap tes TOEIC dengan persentase memperoleh 95%. Dan peningkatan kompetensi berbahasa Inggris guru dari hasil nilai simulasi tes TOEIC, setelah kegiatan dilaksanakan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menyimak guru memperoleh skor 395 dengan 72 soal jawaban benar dan kemampuan membaca memperoleh skor 390 dengan 80 soal jawaban benar.
Abstract: The aim of community service is to improve communication skills of English educators through TOEIC English test as an effort to develop the competence and professionalism of teachers.   The implementation method of this activity is carried out by providing a training in the form of material teaching, discussion and TOEIC simulation test including listening and reading skills. This activity was attended by 20 teachers of Harapan 3 High School, Deli Serdang. The results of the activity showed that there was an improvement in the competence and skill of teachers to the TOEIC test. This can be seen from the questionnaires and TOEIC test scores of teachers after being taught and trained in the activity. The results of the questionnaire showed an improvement in teachers’ knowledge and competence to the TOEIC test with a percentage average of 95%. And the results of the TOEIC simulation test, after held the activity showed the teachers’ listening skills got 395 score with a total of 72 correct answers and listening skills got 390 with a total of 80 correct answers.
